International Men’s Day is an annual global holiday celebrated by more than 57 countries. It aims to give recognition to men who have been regarded as strong partners to end violence against women and children.

The NEUST Gender and Development joined the 2021 celebration of International Men’s Day. This year, the celebration focused on “Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere: An International Men’s Day with its theme: Better Relations between Men and Women. This activity was held on November 16, 2021. One of the main activities was the “Natatanging Juan ng Pamantasan”. The awardees were the following:

CAS Local and International Webinars on Minding Self-Care in the midst of Pandemic

The College of Arts and Sciences under the deanship of Dr. Mario M. Abesamis, Jr. thru the Social and Behavioral Sciences headed by Dr. Maria Cristina Ferrer, in collaboration with the CAS Guidance Office supervised by Dr. Clarinda Reyes with the assistance of Mrs. Annabelle Joy Lazaro and Mr. Richard Arambulo, conducted two relevant webinars considered local and international. For clear understanding of the activities, the Dean of the CAS, Dr. Mario M. Abesamis, Jr, explicated the statement of purpose. The moderators of the webinars were Ms. Agna S. De Guzman (for local) and Ms. Princess Leen Idava (for international).

The international webinar became possible through the Office of International and Domestic Institutional Linkages headed by Atty. Eric G. Claudio and with the support of the University President, Dr. Feliciana P. Jacoba.

The two webinars conducted are as follows:

A. Local Webinar on Mental Health and Well-Being: Minding Self Care in the Midst of Uncertainties (October 25, 2021, 9:00am)

This webinar focused on the individual’s mental health and well-being. The invited guest speaker, Dr. Elaine G. Reyes, emphasized how to maintain personal wellness and good mental health; how to maintain a proactive self-reflection; the different strategies on how to cope with stress and anxiety; self-acceptance that anxiety and fear are normal; finding a balanced life or having enough time for school, work, family, and community; and bringing an intentional mindset to unplugging.

B. International Webinar on Alternative Approaches in Self-Care Amidst Pandemic
This webinar centered on the different approaches on Self-Care in this time of pandemic. Below were the invited resource speakers.

NEUST Students’ Vaccination Activity at SM City, Cabanatuan City

The NEUST Students’ vaccination was set from November 3, 2021 to November 9, 2021 at SM City 3rd floor cinema and 4th-floor playground area, from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The students who were required to be vaccinated were those 18 years old and above, living in Cabanatuan City, or currently studying in the city.
During the vaccination, the University President, Dr. Feliciana P. Jacoba, together with the three vice presidents, Dr. Honorato P. Panahon (Executive Vice President), Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo (VPAA), and Dr. Rachael R. Moralde (VPRET) were in attendance to observe and supervise the flow of the activity. The students’ vaccination was a combined effort of the College of Nursing headed by its dean, Dr. Jean Guillasper, and the NEUST Health Services Office supervised by Dra. Margarita Belinda Gamilla.
The said undertaking was also put into action with the full support of the City Government under the good leadership of Mayor Myca R. Vergara who willingly provided all the needed vaccines for the NEUST students in preparation for the forthcoming gradual face-to-face classes.

ALVAREZ as one of the TEN OUTSTANDING BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES for 2021

Hanz Jimuel Alvarez, a Grade 12 ABM student from the NEUST Laboratory High School was chosen as one of the representatives in the Central Luzon Region Search for Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines. During the Regional Search, Hanz made it to be in the National Search Category.

Luckily, Hanz was awarded as one of the “Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines for 2021” held on October 18-25, 2021. Hanz’s great accomplishment was achieved through his motivation and his outfit advisor and trainer, Prof. Jose G. Mangahas, Jr.
